Shaking my fist at the TV
Oh my... I just remembered that I will be in the USA for the election. I'm excited and perhaps a little frightened. A year ago I sat in Caitlin's dorm room in Pittsburgh and watched on TV the first bombs to fall on Iraq, that was an uneasy time too. The prospect of Bush's re-election is almost like waiting for those explosions - you hope that somehow it won't happen even though it feels like there's little that can be done to stop it.

Just remember: A nation's government does not always represent the views of it's citizens. If Bush wins, I think it'll be a little easier for you to understand that.
I do understand that - although it was a little hard-going for a while, as you know. And it makes perfect sense that the young and lower-income people don't agree with his programs, I guess I just hadn't thought it through until I spent some time down there.
If Bush wins again (and by "again" I mean "legitimately this time") though, it will certainly shake my faith in either the American voting public or the American electoral system.
