So that's what I'm supposed to be doing!

I just came from a performance that was so simple and clear, so connective and engaging. It's funny because it seems like a very basic subject matter: Two people, a man and a woman, from very different cultures, begin a relationship. Simple, basic, but so engrossing. The performance was all about the roles that are thrust upon men and women, and how we can either play within or break free of those bonds. The lighting was simple, maybe 80 instruments, colour scheme red, O/W. There was heavy use of shadow and line, barely any front lighting....simple yet beautiful, the designers and performers both used only what was absolutely necessary, something difficult to do and rarely seen. I'm so glad I went.
