apartment madness and NY

ah...stolen internet is a wonderful thing. So we've been moving in and unpacking and getting a ridiculously enormous lock put on the door. The other day our malfunctioning intercom was repaired so if any of you happen to drop by you can buzz us, although the malfunctioning intercoms in many of the other buildings have yet to be repaired, and as a result there's a lot of shouting going on in our complex (Phil is the most popular of our neighbours, we think he might be a dealer).

We've also been riding the subway a lot, and I know this is a bit of a cheesy statement that makes me sound like a tourist, but I love the NY subway. The stations have so much character and are such an interesting environment. I discovered a support column at the 72nd street station that had a big chip of paint taken out of it, right down to the metal, and looking at the layers of paint was like looking at rings of a tree. For those of you who know my penchant for peoplewatching, I'm sure you know that I've found a little slice of paradise in the subway. The first day we were here we got embroiled in a religious debate with a crazy man.

That's all for the timebeing, I have some girl waiting for me...later there will be a more detailed account of our move-in days!
