It's late, and I think I'll have to keep this brief because I'll be busy tomorrow and am someday planning to adopt a regular sleeping/waking schedule, however here are some things that have been going through my head lately.
I have been getting rid of my stuff. It's surprisingly way easier than it was the last time I moved, maybe because I'm excited about "starting over" in a new city. Of course, there are a few boxes heading to my dad's place too, but anyways...
In what has now been officially dubbed "The Cull" of my material goods, I have noticed that over the years I have amassed many items within a few select categories. I wonder if it's indicative of my subconscious that I have 5 piggy banks, more than 30 now-useless keys, and a box of magic tricks. I also have a large number of pens and pencils, some dating back to when I was in elementary school. Odd...
Today was possibly my last day at the concert hall I've worked at for (amazingly) seven years now. At the end of the call, it happened that I was completely alone in the hall. I stood on the stage and sang, probably badly, but really with my heart. I mean how many times will I get to solo in a concert hall that Yo Yo Ma and Ben Heppner have performed in? I was belting it out, thinking about the performances I'd seen and worked on there, about how I once or twice sneaked in with friends and jammed on the stage in the dead of night, about the relationships I had there with so many people. Then I remembered that the program sound was probably on and I was serenading the entire building outside the hall, and I sneaked away before anyone could make fun of me.
Tomorrow I start a horribly abbreviated design process. The day after tomorrow I hang what for all intents and purposes is a version of American Idol. Pretty last-minute, but should be interesting.
Thank goodness I have so many good friends. I know that kind of came out of nowhere, but I really appreciate the generosity of spirit you all have shown me. You're all great people.
I leave for the USA in 20 days. Holy crap.

As the girlfriend of said "rat," I'm just...not sure how to feel about that.
no wonder rats are both so bold and so ill-tempered!
Arg, I must get rid of this stuff soon! Know anyone who's in the market for a bed, desk, or chest of drawers? On the bright side, I just had someone pick up all the pencils, some vintage 80s markers, and some other things for $20.
Did I ever tell you the story about meeting The Captain in the hot tub at the UBC Aquatic Centre? It's even weirder than you're imagining...
I have no idea how disturbing that ought to be, but…
It's pretty wierd!
