warning: sappy post ahead

It's funny, thinking that in six days I'm going to leave this place for at least five months, probably longer.

I love Vancouver in many ways - I love the way the city is laid out, I love the sea, I love the mountains, I love the smell of fresh air. Really, though, I love my own comfort with the city I grew up in. I love the fact that I can hop on a bus and know pretty much everything in between my starting point and destination. I love not feeling lost or nervous. And most importantly, I love the friends I have here.

I don't really know what else to write, to be honest. Vancity has a lot of great things going for it. New York does too, I know, but I guess the comfort level isn't there yet. I'm really excited to start in a new place and do new things, just missing the support of familiar markers and familiar friends, I guess.

So hey: if you're thinking of making a move anytime soon, for purely selfish reasons I suggest NYC. If you want to bring a mountain with you that's fine too.

great thing about nyc is that you are too busy and distracted by the million things to do see and eathear and smell to have time to wax poetic about pastoral mountain cities, you're gonna have a fantastic time i'm sure!

Yeah it's true: Definite sensory saturation in NYC. Despite of all my romantic musings about Vancouver, however, I think now I'm ready to say au revoir.

It was good to see you and Cheyenne the other night!
