The definition of work
I sometimes think my job is hard. I have very tight deadlines a lot of the time, and a lot of things I am directly responsible for. Every now and again I think to myself "I wish my job was easier...wouldn't it be cool to get paid for just sitting at a desk somewhere?"
Well I wish that no longer.
For the past day I have been for all intents and purposes exiled to a small room with only the computer (and once or twice my wonderful girlfriend on the phone) to keep me company. It turns out I am working essentially as the building rep while a client takes over the space. The client doesn't want my help, even though there are jobs I can do for them. I don't think I have ever been actually bored at work before and I don't like the feeling. Not only that, but I'm still on the hook if something goes awry - they won't call me unless it's an emergency so I can't even wander off and take a nap (not like I'd actually do that at work, although I have been tempted) in case something explodes. Add that to personality conflicts with the client and you have a recipe for a fun day. Oh well, tomorrow marks the beginning of a new phase of work. If only tomorrow would hurry up and get its ass over here....
