Some day my post will come...

Things have been really busy, so busy I can't write anything coherent. In fact, I'm about to go to bed since I'm getting up in 5 hours. But first, since I promised I'd put these up for Caitlin, here are a couple of quotes:

"I enlisted with all the enthusiasm that so many people went into World War Two with..."The Good War," in quotation marks...but so many people who went into that "good war" came out of that war not as certain as they'd gone into it. Not because they'd developed an affinity for Fascism...because that was what gave us the moral purpose, that was what gave us the enthusiasm - a war against Fascism. And the assumption was (a very dangerous assumption): That if the enemy is evil, then your side must be good."

"What happened in World War Two was what happens in war generally, and that is: Whatever the initiating cause and however clear the moral reason is...in which one side looks better than the others...by the time the war ends both sides have been engaged in evil."

-Howard Zinn

THanks! I like the second one, especially. I would bring them up in my history class but, as I learned today, there is no place for abstract thought in that class. Instead, I will simply regurgitate what was in the readings and stop terrifying my teacher. *Sigh*
